93 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine: “It’s a dense and compact wine, showing mountain tannins framing black current, cassis, mineral, violet and new oak flavors. Despite its opulence, the finish is dry. Made from 100% Cabernet, the wine needs time in the cellar. Try it after 2018, and it should be rolling along in the mid-2020s.” Cellar Selection

92+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: “The saturated ruby/purple-colored 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (100% Cabernet Sauvignon; just under 1,000 cases produced) was aged 30 months in French oak (50% new). It reveals an attractive, tightly knit nose of forest floor, blackberries and black currants, a rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, and plenty of structure, tannin, depth and richness. Clearly built for long-term cellaring, this textbook mountain Cabernet Sauvignon should be consumed between 2017 and 2030. It is the finest Laurel Glen Cabernet Sauvignon I have tasted in over a decade.”

Our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon: A complex, long lived and beautifully balanced expression of our organically farmed Sonoma Mountain Estate

Tasting Notes: “This wine is youthful but still rich with a firm structure, a dusty minerality and racy acidity that illustrate its mountain fruit heritage. This wine should age beautifully!”

Vintage Notes: The 2010 summer in California was the coolest since 1998, and so veraison began very late. Some worried growers excessively removed leaves in an effort to get sunlight to the clusters. Unfortunately, their crop was then overexposed when the 105 F heat wave arrived at the end of August. Fortunately there was virtually no sunburn at Laurel Glen Vineyard. Many years of farming the same vineyard means we know its strengths and quirks very well. Our grapes will always take a little longer to ripen and we have learned to wait patiently for natural flavor
development.

Vineyard Notes: Laurel Glen Vineyard, a thousand feet up the slopes of Sonoma Mountain, has long been considered one of the iconic Cabernet vineyards of California. The vineyard faces east, above the fog line. This optimal exposure captures the first rays of morning sunlight and avoids the burning heat of late afternoon. The thin, rocky soils promote efficient drainage and restrain vigor. We farm our small mountain vineyard organically and all vineyard work is done by hand.

Wine Profile
Production Notes
After rigorous blind tasting, we select the richest and most complex lots of Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from each vintage. 888 cases produced.
Winemaker Notes
The wine was crafted using the traditional techniques of a 3 day cold soak followed by fermentation in small open-topped stainless steel tanks. Using a combination of pump-overs and punch-downs allows us to target the elegant skin tannin and reduce seed extraction. The 2010 Laurel Glen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% free run - no press wine was used in the blend.
